Paathappattu- When a traditional death song inspired a super-hit movie song

Naanu Pattupura is an award-winning folk musician from north Kozhikode. During an interview with ARPO, he sings Paathappattu of Pulaya community that inspired the super-hit Malayalam movie song Pala Palli Puthuppalli in movie Kaduva. He talks about how the song was traditionally sung during Koolikettal, a ritual held on the seventh day of someone's death in the community. He also talks about the language, and philosophy of the song.
